to remain a discerning platform for underground artists with integrity is easier said than done in todays music market. alphahouse vows never to forget its roots in the afterhours basements from whence it came. in that spirit, we would like to welcome two up-and-coming italians to the family with release number twenty. good friends alessandro stefanio aka buck, and andrea santoro aka santorini, both from puglia, proudly represent the new school of deep thinking producers from a country not generally known for such restraint. if you have been following santorini or bucks output of late, you will know that italy is more than just the land of shuffled techno.. there is a deeper music movement in the country, and these guys are two of the best.

celebrated spanish techno artist ascii.disko returns to biatch corp for release number 13 on the label with two divergent remixes from taster peter and jussi-pekka. the original version is an intriguing slice of rough hewn techno, exactly the kind of ruggedness on the dance floor ascii.disko has become well-known for. rising italian techno producer taster peter significantly re-works the track in to a dark, peak hour chugger complete with rolling drums and polyrhythmic glee that cannot be easily ignored. rounding out the three-track release is a remix from finnish star jussi-pekka. giving the source material a wild ride that combines a shuffling house beat, funky latin percussion, and even a slight hint of yello. his re-interpretation strips away the industrial strength techno edge of the original and replaces it with a warm, inviting deep house vibe that will get dance floors jumping for joy.

this is a special release to us at days of being wild, firstly because it s the return of catalepsia and he s in a mighty form, secondly because we felt very privileged to have artists of the calibre of sean and don getting involved and lastly the quality of the remixes they delivered left us speechless! so dope menace is an energetic dance floor stomper, centred around a very heavy beat and is indeed quite a menacing affair. built around a hellish, relentless string riff, the track is a dramatic, cinematic, dark mid tempo house number that could induces as much fancy foot work as it would head banging. jerome bazzanella, the man behind catalepsia has been releasing techno / house records for the last 3 years on various labels and compilations (synewave, remute, métis recoordings...) he likes to keep the tempo roughly between 110/120 bpm, favouring a heavy, efficient sound, with subtle sound effects and movements, in the tradition of the records from chicago and detroit.

absolute stonking techno turnaround from hotflushs sigha ! 3 tracks to change the game, serious business ! back to normal releases now for blueprint after the final instalment of regis and ruskins ost-traumatic son project. emerging from the more experimental side of the dubstep scene in late 2008 with a number of releases on the much lauded hotflush recordings imprint, sighas sound has evolved into a deep, dark, introspective take on techno. he has also worked with echocord, metalheadz and immerse among others and runs the >our circula sound< label.

italian techno heavyweights markantonio and rino cerrone finally name their collaborative ventures after ten years of gigs and productions together, and the name is junction hands. revolution is back is the first full release under the junction hands moniker, following a well received outing as part of the recent the napoli connection ep on adam beyers drumcode and it sees the two veterans deliver some of their strongest work yet. the title track is a pacey number with a reverb soaked yet warm atmosphere which underpins an aggressive, simple and incredibly effective bass/drum loop which gains intensity throughout. sharp sounds puncture the groove here there which keeps things interesting but its the discordant stabs in the break which push things into overdrive. the equally hypnotic and driving thing for hands follows but manages to do so with an increased feeling of woozy menace. synths feedback on themselves to shattering crescendos before subsiding into waves of noise while the groove relentlessly works its magic. with junction hands theres yet another must-check name coming out of the neapolitan scene.

mister saturday nights eamon harkin dishes out another dose of rocking revamps on this the second release from his subway series imprint. this time the throne of blood man takes three numbers which should be somewhat recognizable to discerning ears and mutates them into jams designed firmly for the dance floor. >party out of sight< is a superb re-work of the bill withers seminal harlem. this edit made its first mark a few years ago in an earlier guise on mp3 but has now been further spruced and improved for wax. >the better kind< stretches out joy divisions >means to an end< and underpins it with a rocking drum pattern whilst >turn up the funk< is an excellent re-work of the proto hip-hop number >shoot the pump< from back in the day. a real bumper package!

number 1 in a series of 3 eps unraveling unreleased classic house tracks by stefan goldmann. victoriaville continues its research into stefan goldmanns sweet back catalogue with the world premiere of a triple vinyl series of never before released house material. revisiting the years 2000 - 2005, emptying the vaults highlights the era of stefan goldmanns uk years. often his actual releases with classic, ovum and front room reflected just a part of the possible. now victoriaville proudly steps in to let the whole thing shine. restored from the original master tapes and cut by d&ms rashad, heres some startling evidence of how deep the roots of house actually were in berlin years before the still ongoing hype set in. >cirque mecanique< is a throbbing groove work out with a dark edge, while >warm rush< brings sweet & pure deepness. >true dub< is an unreleased alternative version to 2002s >true< single - no vocals, just bass. enjoy and look out for parts 2 & 3!

the aliens dropped their first tune >exterminate< and >their here< to critical acclaim setting the dub step forums and dance floors alight. the guys now come with their second release and drop two brutal dub step bass heavy steppers on us. there is a lot of chatter about who the aliens are with names of a number of top dubstep artists in the frame. however it doesnt really matter who is behind this release as the music clearly speaks for itself. these new tunes have been causing chaos on the dance floor with their destructive basslines and nasty switches and being supported by the cream of the dub step scene including kromestar, skream, n type, hatcha, walsh, f1 and the aliens.

berliner martin dawson and polish duo catz n dogz join forces to bring us this fierce three track ep entitled no nights. the first track on this release is no nights. brimming with warm pads and an accusing, dark lo-fi synth line this version has a deep vibe to it and the ability to really get under ones skin. following this the berlin-polish team hit us with no nights (beatz mix) a catchy tech-house number with a lo-fi synth line sporadically accompanied by a melodically decending dubby synth. combined with the crisp vocal line this makes for a very promising track. no days, the last track on this release gets straight to business with distorted vocals and a menacing bassline that intertwine throughout the track. varying rhythmical flourishes keep it interesting, while tripped out synthesized sounds guarantee to get any dancefloor grooving. we couldnt be more pleased with the results of this tenacious trio and we look to the future in hope that they are already planning further collaborations.

we are happy to welcome a new artist into our family. young jose pouj is one of the new emerging talents from the spanish techno scene. his speciality is hard edged techno, but with a touch of class. a sound carefully crafted and skilfully developed. his blood poisoning ep starts with waken, a scientific techno number with a solid rhythm arrangement, fat basses and sharp synth workout, a funky electronic steamroller designed for body and mind. the b side opens with sepsis, a harder approach to modern techno with a strong drum programming, sweeping drones, an arpeggiated bassline and a bunch of bleeps that appear and disappear throughout the arrangement. an anabolic track that slowly goes to a mental break and turns once more to madness. the release closes with organic return, where the main course is made up of carefully programmed synthetic drums, till an emb-flavoured bassline comes into the track, reminding us of the good old pulsinger style. summing up, this is the work of a great young producer that injects new blood into our label. watch out for forthcoming adventures of this new talent.

the second vinyl sampler features the production skills of some very exciting, emerging new artists. first up is deep space orchestra from the uk. having recently caught the eye of gilles peterson and top house imprints like delusions of grandeur, it seems that dsos music is now starting to get the attention that it deserves. andy ash from liverpool is another producer who has been consistently turning out top quality underground house sounds for a number of years now, most notably for the revenges l.e.s.s. edits series. meanwhile, italian producer nicholass blend of disco edits and original 90s house sounds has been creating quite a stir, and has seen his standing as a producer grow weekly with various releases on imprints like small world disco, mo more hits, kojak & dikso already, as well as an increasing demand for remix work.

with a number of tracks already under his belt in 2011, including a remix of vector lovers on soma records, andreas returns to ideal audio with his latest work, >tenses<. the title track is a combination of bubbling synths and abrasive strings, yet these are kept at bay by the tracks innate underlying deepness. on the remix, another ideal artist - sebrok - keeps thing deep. his relentless beats are consistant throughout as he builds a frantic synth to its peak, before falling away into those beats once again.

the opening track from the debut simon baker album was always going to be a strong choice to be the first single. no pressure has received unanimous praise since the albums release and is back with new remixes by art department and simon himself. its rare to get great stand out vocal tracks that dont split opinion, but this seems to be one of them. its slick, deep house of the highest calibre with a stand out hooky vocal from debukas. art department, owners of ras number one track of 2010 drop a superb remix, adding new vocals and teasing debukas back into the mix for a pretty special, hypnotic workout. simons >upstate dub< mix finishes things off. it aims things directly at the dancefloor in his signature, deep and twisting style.

the flame recordings introduces release number four and are proud to present italian starlet simone gatto with his brand new >eternal jazz ep<.simone is rapidly forging a name for himself as label manager of the flame recordings and for his residencies amongst the most famous clubs in his native italy. the >eternal jazz ep< comprises of three original tracks showcasing his trademark deep techno grooves whilst focusing on innovation and new electronic sound experimentation.

jerome takes sole control over the latest apotek release, the canine ep. definitely lacking anything but inspiration in the studio, mr. sydenham rides the wave of productivity with his latest ep of techno-funk for his apotek label, an ep that might have you reaching for the number of the nearest veterinary clinic.

thirteen might be an unlucky number for some but for culprit it is quite the opposite. the labels thirteenth release >candy< from lee curtiss, is its biggest and most unashamedly dance floor oriented release to date. a watershed record for the young label, >candy< is the special type of track that reaches out and grabs you immediately upon hearing it. so it proved for culprit founder andrei osyka of droog, who, upon hearing matt tolfrey play it at visionquests famed old miami party at demf, knew it must be a culprit release, and promptly went out and signed it

majestys pleasure volume 1 has finally arrived and for many months these secrets weapons have been burning up and hypnotizing the dance floors of the worlds more discreet discotheques. this is the first in a series of limited releases from majestys pleasure with a very special introduction from the labels ambassador strom vandenburg who after a rather jubilant and successful career as the netherlands number porn star has now decided to turn attention towards another passion of his lustful disco reworks. these productions are strictly for lovers of early prototype techno, twisted cosmic excursions, back street boogie and new jersey garage which will leave all the bedroom bloggers out there with a confused inquisitive look upon their faces

dials sublabel laid comes up again with a double feature for true house music lovers. catalogue number 11 features tracks by uks juergen junker and our wellknown buddy lowtec. after playing together at the legendary sud electronic/ uzuri parties in london efdemin, lawrence and carsten jost fell deeply in love with with juergen junkers amazing dj & live sets and his wonderful productions. his own label neurythmics was like a secret treasure to be explored. followed by a lovely release on efdemins naif imprint he now enteres the laid zone with two deeply rooted house pieces. lowtec has always been a main influence of the dial/laid family and after his huge underground hit of last years workshop ep (laid07 with kassem mosse) he presents a dirty rhodes stomper to hit the house floors again. freaky alert!

kicking off 2011 with a killer e.p. is our favourite artist art bleek featuring a number of remixes from the new art supplies album released on loungin this month plus some fresh cuts exclusive to this release. starting the e.p. is a floor filling remix of clap your hands by our own trevor loveys. the original has been out for a few months in the blogosphere and has been picking up some heavy props. next up is hold it (a little longer) where art shows off his true talent of the master of the musical groove with a rolling bass and a choppup vocal lick to keep the party rocking. flip over to side b and you would be excused if you thought someone had swapped the record out for a disco classic. with vox by noelle scaggs and a harmony that nile rodgers would be proud of arthur creates a boogie classic that is very much flavour of the moment. following on is an exclusive remix of the hunt dance featuring the unmistakable voice of ursula rucker. the original on art supplies has had such amazing reactions that we all thought it would be hard to better it, but again arthur has done it delivering a groover for the heads. finally is right on featuring l.as finest charlie sputnik. art delivers a more techy grove to this classic which is a sound he is becoming more recognised for which contrasts so will with charlies trademark smooth vocals.

maetriks cocoon debut >snorkel< on the 7th edition of the 10 inch series belongs without doubt to the most successful tracks of the past year and is an essential track in the clubs since then, thanks to its matchless mixture of powerful deep house and noise. eric estornel aka maetrik is, however, definitely not a newcomer. with a large number of releases on such prestigious labels from the likes of treibstoff from cologne, dumb unit and steve bugs audiomatique platform, the texan-born and now resident of valencia has proven to be one of the most reliable protagonists at the interface between straight dark house, dub and funky techno. estornels aim was to stick to this recipe when he made his his first cocoon solo maxi: >crush on me< and >push< are two absolute masterpieces and are representative for estornels unique style, using hallucinogenic vocals, hypnotic beats and a power that is deep and latently noisy at the same time to put the dancefloor over the edge of insanity. with his third album >life index<, released on the london-based label crosstown rebels, and with other releases on guy gerbers supplement facts platform and on get physical, this spring seems to be totally under estornels sign

emerson todds second release on upon you. the likable new zealander who moved to berlin via australia seems to spend his nights dreaming of the homelands. the cover and title of release number 046 are both inspired by the original natives of new zealand. emersons specially crafted sound is somewhere in-between jungle and metropolis , wild with details yet still beautifully melodic. the a1 track, >you got to< proves that a piano can kick you and a lovely little digital-topping can then combine everything into sweet dub-ness. as to be expected, the b-side is also alive with the artists agility and perfectly timed and placed thing and what-nots to turn any dance floor into an intense experience

the title track is a slow action blockbuster accompanied by the sexy industrial-type vocals. the track pays the ultimate homage to french electronics of the past couple of years.
also on the ep are the tracks >wrack<, the sinister cut-up distortion number which starts out with an evil hip-hop beat and then turns into a proper techno banger, as well as >arabic< which is full of sitars and psychedelic tension. makos in-house talent polymorphic provides a hot remix.

a1: get cha - beat down funk feel with ltj written all over it! super vocal and a killer bass line as ever. coming at cha! a2: funky luv - again on the slower beat, properly done. the groove is awesome. a gentle track with lots of percussion, keys and a cool little vocal. typical ltj at his best! b1: the party - a more upbeat, housier number for the b. this track has real nice groove to it, again heavy use of the percussion elements. a long, evolving synth and super low end.

denis horvat is a 26 year old dj and producer from frederiksvaerk, north of copenhagen his musical career has been pretty short up until now, but he has been scooped up by the label great stuff. his roots are the drums which you can see when you listen to his tracks. whether its the title track >lost fuse< with its dub elements or the more melodic >the vintage< or the deeper b2 number >satisfashion<

the fifth neurhythmics release is a compilation of befriended artists, and this is reflected by the different interpretations of the individuals to what the labels sound is about. juergen provides the a-side with >common sense< a vocal-snippet driven house-track, that once again underpins his sound-aesthetics of having it sound live and mixed on the fly, straight out of the machine. the flip-side could not start off any better. quite possibly a future classic, >signature< by mike binary, has soul and emotion literally squeezed in between each of the effortlessly programmed beats, and has become one the favourite tracks at the neurhythmics hq to ever been put on the label. last but not least, >no other< by the dirty soul project (you will know these guys, but we were sworn to secrecy) firmly pulls the hand brake and slows things down to just over 110 bpm. this doesnt mean that this very hypnotic number isnt going to work in the early morning slots…au contraire, actually...
